With this year's international races being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our co-founder Juraj took some time to look back at his first triathlon and, more importantly, the long road that led to it. In our latest blog post, he is describing his journey from the initial idea all the way to the finish line in words, pictures, and visualizations.

In this article, we look at 'the built environment', which Wikipedia describes as "human-made surroundings that provide the base for human activity, containing everything from parks, public transport or hospitals to coffees, bars, and restaurants." One way to do it is to explore the neighbourhoods through open data. 

It has been two years since we have started Knoyd. We have helped quite a few companies using their data more efficiently and have learnt a lot during the process. It has also been two years since we published one of our very first blog posts, analysing tweets about Star Wars: The Force Awakens.  And since the new installment has hit theaters in December, we have decided to create a re-hash of this original blogpost.

Considering all the craze around cryptocurrencies happening all around us this year, our team has also decided to dip their toes into these crypto-waters and invest a little bit of money into the hype. In this blog, we will build a simple Google Sheet based portfolio monitoring tool. It is supposed to auto-update with new values on exchange rate changes.

For this blog post we decided to jump on the PokémonGO hype and add a bit of science into the craze. Our goal is to give you the optimal portfolio of Pokémon to train, so you can be as effective as possible against a wide variety of opponents. As each Pokémon has its strengths and weaknesses, we created clusters of Pokémon with similar characteristics and looked at the few selected ones allowing the player to compete against as many different enemies as possible.

In this edition of the Knoyd-blog we will take a look at movie locations in San Francisco. Using the Google Places API and IMDb API we selected places in “The Golden City”, which every movie fan should visit, while they are in town.

For our latest blog, we took discussion comments from the Slovak sports community website sport.sk and fed them to our deep learning model. We wanted to see, whether we could teach a model to generate these comments automatically from all the past comments we had and if it was going to learn the structures and nuances used in them. In the next blog of our Knoyd series, we are going to show one of the ways of measuring impact of NBA players on the game. Everyone knows that all-stars like LeBron James or Stephen Curry have tremendous impact and they show it in every game on the floor. However, very often role players need to step up and save the game. This analysis is dedicated especially to these players and how they can change the game by their performance. The cornerstone of this analysis is the basic correlation between players‘ impact and result of the game. The way, how impact of an individual player is computed, will be described later on.

It has come. The most anticipated movie of this year was released and the Force has awakened. We have tracked the activity on Twitter before and after the release date to gain insight into the reactions of people and their feelings about the next episode of the most famous movie franchise in history.
